The problem with the news today is that it is too closely monitored. While having a discussion in class today about just this, it reminded me of the movie V for Vendetta. The movie is set in England and the news is completely controlled by the government. There is only one news channel and that is all that informs the people. The people are all fed lies and that is exactly what the news today is starting to remind me of. Although we have more than just one news channel, all of them are monitored and censored. While I think the government is responsible for most of this censorship, I think the public is also to blame. Many people are offended by certain topics and to please the people news stations have started to simplify the news and make it lighter so as not to upset people. If people do not want to know what is really happening in the world then they should not watch the news. The news should be a place of truth to inform people of what is really going on, not a place of entertainment.
